Daniel Hoyt was born about 1898 in Near Chapin, South Carolina.1 Daniel Hoyt's father was Westley Killian Shealy and his mother was Agnes Wessinger. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Shealy and Sallie Ballentine. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Edgar Lafayette, Horace Westley, Curtis Melton, Allie, Ethel Elberta, Ella Ruth, Mary Agnes, Janie Elizabeth, Mildred Wessinger and Julia Mae. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.-
