James Wiley was born on December 27th, 1827.1 James Wiley's father was John Frederick Sease and his mother was Elizabeth Bickley. His paternal grandparents were John Mark Suss\Seas\Sease and Nancy Shirer. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Elias Starling, Josiah Richard Wesley, Jacob Anderson, David Isaiah, Frances Marion, Anna and Permelia Ann Luseda. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.-
