Edward's father was Luther Paul Washington Riser and his mother was Serena Adeline Moore. His paternal grandparents were William Riser and Eliza Burly. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James, Luther, Robert, Ella Georgie, Annie, Eva, Mary and Serena.-
