Ruby was born on September 27th, 1896.1 Ruby's father was Manassas Alonzo Ragland and her mother was Beulah May (Barbara) Summers. Her maternal grandparents were Elias E. Summer and Elizabeth Beavers. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Harold E., Seals, Tommy, Lillie E. and Nellie Kate (Nell). She was the second youngest of the six children.-
