Florence Dacus was born on April 11th, 1914 in Gaffney, South Carolina.1 Florence Dacus' father was James L. Moorhead and her mother was Mary Frances (Fannie) Werts. Her maternal grandparents were Michael Werts and Martha Ann Elizabeth Stephens. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Paul Grady, Douglas, Robert Claude, Fred Werts, James L., Myrtle Lucille, Frances Elizabeth and Annie Margaret. She was the youngest of the nine children.-
