Burwell Grigg 
Burwell was born in 1798 in Mecklenburg County, VA.1 Burwell's father was Burwell Grigg and his mother was Sabra Elam. His paternal grandparents were Jesse Grigg and Nancy Webb. He had ten brothers and four sisters, named Bannister, John Elam, Jesse, Bolling, Abner, Edward, Frederick, Richardson, Daniel, Samuel, Phebe, Jane, Nancy and Elizabeth. He was the sixth oldest of the fifteen children.1 General Notes

Had 150 acres, Cleveland County, NC, 1850
Undoubtedly there were two or three older children of Burwell Grigg who had married and moved out. Probably Bannister Grigg, born 1826; married Malinda, and had sons (1) Anderson Grigg, born 1845, (2) John W. Grigg, born 1846. Perhaps also Edward Grigg, born 1825 or 1826, married Clara?, age 19. They lived on the 200 acre farm joining Burwell Grigg V - probably his son.
