Mamie was born on December 24th, 1882 in Darlington County, S.C..1   Mamie's father was William Troy Gibson and her mother was Susan Sparrow.  Her paternal grandparents were Nelson Kinsey Gibson and Sarah Rachel Thomas. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William Troy, Edwin Lee, Ella Jane, Margaret Irene and Sue.  She was the third youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 62 in March 1945 in Hartsville, South Carolina.1
