Alan of Galloway was born about 1170 in of Runnemede, Scotland.1 Alan of Galloway's father was Roland Lord Galloway and his mother was Elena de Morville. His paternal grandparents were Uchtred de Galloway Lord Galloway and Gunnild of Allerdale; his maternal grandparents were Richard de Morville and Avice de Lancastria. He was an only child.
