He had two brothers and six sisters, named Joseph M., Francis Baker, Victoria Lee, Elenora, Cora Lee, Mary E., Bessie and Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Seth H., Sam Coleman and Virginia. He died due to Acute Diffuse Nephritis at the age of 40 on May 21st, 1914 in Richmond, VA.
