John William Thomas was born on September 4th, 1859 in Louisa Co., VA. John William Thomas' father was William H. Thurston and his mother was Elizabeth Butler. His paternal grandparents were John Thurston and Louisa F. Poor; his maternal grandparents were Hezikiah Butler and Susan Haley Harlow. He had a brother and three sisters, named Stonewall Jackson, Nannie, Elizabeth and Martha. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 64 on January 25th, 1924 in Louisa Co., VA.-
