Henry M. was born in 1871 in Hanover Co., Virginia.1 Henry M.'s father was Henry Bentley Stanley and his mother was Maria L. Cocke. His paternal grandparents were John Stanley and Hannah Wright Hall. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Charles P., Robert S., Edward L., Alberta and Oleander. He was the third oldest of the six children.-
