Ison was born in Hanover Co., VA.  Ison's father was Edward Walton. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Richmond, Thompson, John, Elizabeth, Sally, Lucretia, Betty, Sally, Milly and Agnes.  He died in 1832 in Albemarle Co., Virginia.
