Martha Childs was born on July 24th, 1901. Martha Childs' father was Nathaniel Dandridge Pendleton and her mother was Beatrice Walton Childs. Her paternal grandparents were Philip Coleman Pendleton and Catherine Sarah Melissa Tebeau; her maternal grandparents were Walter Cannon Childs and Edith Smith. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Philip Childs, Willard Dandridge, Jean Lowrie and Nancy Tebeau. She was the second oldest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Ora Cornelia.-
