Nobel B. was born about 1915 in Goochland Co., VA. Nobel B.'s father was John James Payne and his mother was Annie Cole Pryor. His paternal grandparents were Henry Winston Payne and Joanna Grace Roberts; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Thornton Pryor and Joanna Susan Payne. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Stuart A., (infant), Durward Graham, James Ashby, Samuel Winston, Ethelyne, Evelyn, Bernice J., Edith Eleanor, Thelma J. and Annabel Lee. He died on May 18th, 2000 in Richmond, Virginia.General Notes

PAYNE
Noble B. Payne, 85, of Richmond, departed this life Thuirsday May 28, 2000 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gertrude; brothers, Durward, Samuel, Ashby, and Stuart; sisters, Evelyn, Ethelyn, Thelma, Bernice, Annabel, and Eleanor. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, R. Dwight and Nancy Payne, and two granddaughters, Katheryn and Mary Ellen Payne. His remains rest at Bliley's Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Mr. Payne was a decorated WWII Army veteran, Mentor and Master Mason of Temple Lodge #9 AF & AM, member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Chruch, and a retired employee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 4768 Shannon Hill Rd., Columbia, Va. 23038.
