Thomas was born on April 2nd, 1730 in Washington Parish, Westmoreland Co., VA.  Thomas' father was John Marshall and his mother was Elizabeth Markham.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Marshall and Martha Sherwood; his maternal grandfather was John Markham. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John, William, Markham, Sarah, Ann, Mary, Margaret and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 72 on June 22nd, 1802 in Washington, Mason, KY.
