Clara Mae was born on August 30th, 1925 in Scottsville, Fluvanna Co., VA. Clara Mae's father was Clarence Wingo Kidd and her mother was Mary Isabella Marshall. Her paternal grandparents were James Taylor Kidd and Ella Gray Richardson; her maternal grandparents were John Marshall and Lydia Helena McDannell. She had a brother and three sisters, named Clarence Thurston, Viola Bernice, Vera Marjorie and Eva Jane. She was the second youngest of the five children.-
