Mary Monro's father was Henry Harrison Cocke and her mother was Emily C. Banister. Her paternal grandparents were Walter Cocke and Anne Carter Harrison; her maternal grandparents were John Monro Banister and Mary Burton Augusta Bolling. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Harrison Henry, John Monro, Emily Augusta Bolling and Ann Harrison. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Henry Harrison, Tarifa, Eliza and Juliana Ruffin.-
