BOWLES Richard Curd Bowles, Jr. of Richmond died April 24, 2000 in the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. He was born December 31, 1946 in Richmond, son of the late Richard Curd "Dick" Bowles Sr. and Mary Rutherford Bowles of Richmond. Richard received a B.A. degree in history in 1970 and his M.S.W. degree in 1976 from V.C.U. Shcool of Social Work. He was also a L.C.S.W. and a long-time employee of the City of Richmond. He was former president of the Richmond Civil War Round Table and supported preserving historic sites. He is survived by his wife, Linda Carr Bowles of Richmond; his mother, Mary Rutherford Bowles of Richmond; one sister, Riva B. Peters of Richmond; and aunt, Nancy T. Bowles of "The Oaks", Kents Store, an aunt, martha Rutherford of Richmond; equally important, his mother-in-law, Hazel Carr of Ft. Mitchell, Ky.; one neice, three nephews; and a brother-in-law, David Peters. The family will receive friends at "The Oaks" at Kents Store from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 27. Services will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond Y.W.C.A. Homeless Children's Program in Richmond. Sheridan Funeral Home of Kents Store in charge of arrangements.
