Julia Darling was born on July 23rd, 1859 in Clifton, Wayne, TN. Julia Darling's father was William Alexander Foster Barry and her mother was Jane Meriwether Taylor. Her paternal grandparents were Valentine Barry and Martha Adams; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Horton Taylor and Frances Ann Lewis. She had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas Taylor, Frances Lewis, Williah Jane, Laura Eudora and Minnie Christian. She was the second youngest of the six children. She had two half-brothers named Daniel F. and William Henry.-
