Daniel F. was born on December 17th, 1842 in Raleigh, Shelby, TN. Daniel F.'s father was William Alexander Foster Barry and his mother was Frances Ann Taylor. His paternal grandparents were Valentine Barry and Martha Adams; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Horton Taylor and Frances Ann Lewis. He had a brother named William Henry. He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Thomas Taylor, Frances Lewis, Williah Jane, Laura Eudora, Julia Darling and Minnie Christian. He died at the age of 48 on December 11th, 1891 in Lexington, Henderson, TN.-
