Frances Lewis was born on February 20th, 1847 in Albatross, LA. Frances Lewis' father was William Alexander Foster Barry and her mother was Jane Meriwether Taylor. Her paternal grandparents were Valentine Barry and Martha Adams; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Horton Taylor and Frances Ann Lewis. She had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas Taylor, Williah Jane, Laura Eudora, Julia Darling and Minnie Christian. She was the oldest of the six children. She had two half-brothers named Daniel F. and William Henry.-
