David Overton's father was Robert Anderson and his mother was Elizabeth Mary Overton. His paternal grandparents were Robert Anderson and Cecelia Massie; his maternal grandparents were William Overton and Elizabeth Mary Waters. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Robert, John, Matthew, Bartelot, Nathaniel, Charles, Richard, James, Anne, Charity, Sarah and Janet.-
