Joan was born in 1250 in Shere, Surrey, , England.1 Joan's father was John Fitzgeoffrey and her mother was *Isabel Le Bigod. Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey Fitz Piers Earl of Essex and *Aveline De Clare; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Le Bigod and Maud Marshall. She had a brother and three sisters, named John Fitz, Isabel Fitz, Maud and Aveline. She was the youngest of the five children. She died at the age of 53 on May 26th, 1303 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England.1 -
