Mollie

Mollie was born on August 20th, 1868 in Cannon County, TN.¹ Mollie's father was James ALMON and her mother was Frances RAWLINGS. Her paternal grandfather was Thomas ALLMAN. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Ephraim, Thomas Newton, Lewis J., Robert, Josephus, Mary, Sarah, Arminta, Lucy Ann and Lilly L.. She was the tenth oldest of the eleven children. She died due to Pneumonia, per death certificate at the age of 96 on April 28th, 1965 in Rossville, WALKER County, GA. Her burial was on May 1st, 1965 in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Cemetery, Rossville, WALKER County, GA..²³

- Grannie passed away Wednesday, April 28,, 1965 at her residence, 1001 Magnolia Street, Rossville, GA. She is buried at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Cemetery, Rossville, GA.
  
  There is much confusion regarding Grannie's date of birth.
  
  Tombstone shows date of birth as August 20, 1869. The family Bible shows August 20, 1868.
  
  The 1870 Tennessee Census record taken July 30, 1870 shows Mary F. ALMON age 4 at last birthday. This would mean that she was born in 1865 or 1866 if the census records are correct.
  
  The 1900 Cannon County census shows Mary F. HAYES born August 1870.
  
  The 1910 Coffee County census shows Mollie age 43. This census was taken May 6, 1910. This would mean that she was born 1866 or 1867.
  
  The 1920 Hamilton County, TN census record shows age 49. This would mean a birth date of 1871.
  
  Since Mary was married in 1883, at the time of the marriage she would have been 15 if born in 1868, 14 if born in 1869, and 18 if born in 1865.
  
  1860 and 1870 Census Record shows mother's name to be Francis.
  
  The 1860 Census Record shows the surname "Allman" while the 1870 record shows the surname "ALMON."
  
  Mutt says that Grannie was born in Jacksboro, Campbell County, TN. This has not been verified.
