Ephraim ALMON

Ephraim was born on July 18th, 1845 in TN.¹ Ephraim's father was James ALMON and his mother was Frances RAWLINGS. His paternal grandfather was Thomas ALLMAN. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Thomas Newton, Lewis J., Robert, Josephus, Mary, Sarah, Arminta, Lucy Ann, Mollie and Lilly L.. He was the oldest of the eleven children.

General Notes
- 1870 Census shows occupation as farmer.
  
  There is come confusion about the name of Ephraim's wife.
  
  The Cannon County, TN Marriages (1838-1873) show E. H. ALLMON married P.T. McGILL July , 1864. However, the 1870 census of Cannon County, TN shows Clementine L. as the wife of Ephraim ALMON.
  
  The 1880 Coffee County, TN soundex shows Ephraim's wife is Polemna T. The 1890 Cannon County, TN soundex shows Ephram's wife is Polemna T.
  
  It could be that Polemna T. and Clementine are the same person or that Ephraim was married to Polemna on two separate occasions. However, I have found no evidence of a second marriage in Coffee County or Cannon County.
  
  There is no other Ephraim listed in Cannon County in 1860. At this point, it seems likely that an error was made by the enumerator when recording the name "Polemna."
