Elena S. was born about 1876 in N C.¹ Elena S.'s father was Benjamin Frank Russell and her mother was Sarah M. "Sallie" Riddick. She had five brothers and eight sisters, named Walter L., Benjamin E., Harry A, Clyde, Clide F, G*La A, Elizzabeth F, Ruth R, Bessie, Agnes Selma, Agnes C, Sarah A and Sarah. She was the second oldest of the fourteen children.
