Jessie was born on December 18th, 1890 in Launceston.  Jessie's father was Peter Edward Young and her mother was Louisa Ann Findlay.  Her maternal grandparents were Alexander Findlay and Sarah Knackston. She had a brother and six sisters, named Alexander, Ethel, Louisa, Violet, Edith, Ella and Sarah.  She was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 13 in 1903 in Launceston.
