John was born on June 22nd, 1853 in Hobart.  John's father was Alexander Findlay and his mother was Sarah Knackston. He had a brother and two sisters, named Henry(Harry), Emily and Louisa.  He was the third oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 49 on December 24th, 1902 in Hobart.

John's first family with Beatrice Eliza West

John and Beatrice were married on November 7th, 1875.  They had two sons and a daughter, named John, Cyril and Maude.


John's second family with Mary Hieze

John and Mary were married on June 22nd, 1893.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Claud, John, Alma and Muriel.
