Elizabeth was born in 1843 in Michelmersh, Hampshire.  Elizabeth's father was Joshua WREN and her mother was Charlotte NOYCE.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard WREN and Mary SOUTHWELL. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Frederick, George, Mary, Harriet and Frances.  She was the youngest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Charles.
