Horace was born in 1857 in Marden, Kent.  Horace's father was George Lambert STANLEY and his mother was Keturah UDALL.  His paternal grandparents were David STANLEY and Ann LAMBERT; his maternal grandparents were Jesse UDALL and Ann. He had six brothers and three sisters, named George, Gordon Lambert, David, Albert Edger, Herbert Henry, Jesse Augustus, Catherine Southey, Edith Keturah and Mary Keturah.  He died at the age of 58 in 1915 in Malling District.
