David was born in 1792.  David's father was James Christy and his mother was Mary McCall.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew Christy and Mary Margaret Wilson. He had four sisters named Nancy, Mary, Ann and Jane.  He was the second oldest of the five children. He had six half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Andrew, William, Jermy, James, Joseph, Jannet and Sarah.  He died at the age of 71 in 1863.
