Sarah was born on April 8th, 1844.1   Sarah's father was John Diamond and her mother was Jane McNeil.  Her maternal grandparents were James McNeill and Jane Smilie. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Luke, William, James, John , Enoch, Mary and Nancy.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
