John  was born on July 16th, 1832.1   John 's father was John Diamond and his mother was Jane McNeil.  His maternal grandparents were James McNeill and Jane Smilie. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Luke, William, James, Enoch, Mary, Nancy and Sarah.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 10 on January 20th, 1843.
