Theodorus was born on February 27th, 1800 in Lubbeek.  Theodorus' father was Joannes Babtista Ons and his mother was Barbara Verbeek.  His paternal grandparents were Petrus Ons and Maria Minnen. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Joannes Babtista, Petrus, Anna Maria, Petronella, Jacobus, Anna Elisabeth and Maria Elisabeth.  He was the youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ons and Petronella.
