Dorothy was born in year 1697 in Suffolk, Whatfield and was baptised on June 27th, 1697.  Dorothy's father was James Garrad and her mother was Prudence.  She was the nineth of twelve children.  She had seven brothers and four sisters, named John, William, Richard, Samuel, William, John, James, Mary, Prudence, Prudence and Frances.
