Mary was born in year 1689 in Suffolk, Whatfield and was baptised on March 16th, 1689.  Mary's father was James Garrad and her mother was Prudence.  She was the fourth of twelve children.  She had seven brothers and four sisters, named John, William, Richard, Samuel, William, John, James, Prudence, Prudence, Dorothy and Frances.
