Elizabeth was born in April 1822 in Trimley, St Martin and was baptised on April 6th, 1822. Elizabeth's father was Robert Topple and her mother was Elizabeth Smith. She was the youngest of five children. She had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Isaac, Henry and Lydia. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert, John, George, Mary and Sarah.
