Lydia was born on February 17th, 1816 in Trimley, St Martin. Lydia's father was Robert Topple and her mother was Elizabeth Smith. She was the second of five children. She had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Isaac, Henry and Elizabeth. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert, John, George, Mary and Sarah.
