John, known as John, was born in 1775 in Craven, North Cal.  John's father was John ISLER.  His paternal grandfather was Federick ISLER and his paternal grandmother is Sarah BONNER. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Nathan, William, Nancy, Catherine, Polly, Huldy, Harriett, Rebecca and Winnifred.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died1835 in Wilkinson Co, Georgia.
