Christan, known as Christan, was born on May 11th, 1882.  Christan's father was William GEARHART and his mother was Catherine HOWER.  His paternal grandparents were Peter GEARHART and Katherine KOSTENBAUDER. He had four brothers and five sisters, named David, Lawson, Tobias, Franklin, Mary, Fianna, Lanna, Lydia and Cathrin.  He was the second youngest of the ten children.
