William, known as William, was born on October 20th, 1838.  William's father was Peter GEARHART and his mother was Katherine KOSTENBAUDER.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob GEARHART and Mary (Polly) FISHER. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Daniel, John, Nancy and Sarah. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named James, Charles, Franklin, Mary, Catherine, Christianna, Hannah and Lydia.  He diedFeb 8th, 1916.
