Richard Petty

Richard was born in 1818 in Salterforth, Yorkshire, England.¹ Richard's father was Richard Petty and his mother was Martha (Petty). He had three brothers and six sisters, named John, Sutcliffe Nelson, Joseph, Martha, Mercy, Mary, Sarah, Ellen and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the ten children.
