May Petty

May was born in 1883 in Colne, Lancashire, England.¹ May's father was Emery Petty and her mother was Martha Bailey. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Petty and Phillis Taylor. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Joseph T, Walter, Emery, Stanley, Lily, Phillis A and Ada. She was the sixth oldest of the eight children.
