John William Newiss

John William was born in September 1899 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England.¹ John William's father was Edwin C Newiss and his mother was Margaret Atkinson. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Newiss and Ann Hartley. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Charley, Edwin Cattley, Floretta, Lily, Alice and Annie. He was the youngest of the eight children.
