Katharina was born on April 30th, 1870 in Leipzig (Leibzig), Bessarabia, Russia (now Ukraine).1   Katharina's father was Christian Leberecht Sprecher and her mother was Anna Justina Hintz (Sprecher).  Her paternal grandparents were Friedrich Jon “Fred” Sprecher and Louise “Christine” Gruning (Sprecher) Grunning. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Daniel, Emil, August, Magdalena and Paulina.  She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had two half-sisters named Emilia and Ottilia.  She died at the age of 79 on February 11th, 1950 in Lodi, San Joaquin County, California, USA.1

Katharina and Gottlieb were married in a religious & civil ceremony on October 20th, 1889 in Mercer County, North Dakota, USA.1
