Theodore was born on November 28th, 1908 in Streeter, Stutsman County, North Dakota, USA.1   Theodore's father was Gottlieb Rivinius Jr and his mother was Katherine “Katie” Stradinger (Rivinius).  His paternal grandparents were Gottlieb Rivinius Sr. and Katherine Herman (Rivinius); his maternal grandparents are Carl Stradinger and Katrena Nehr. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Jake, Gottlieb, Albert, Arthur, Katie, Maggie, Lydia and Ida.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 86 on March 16th, 1995 in Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota, USA.1

Theodore and Helen were married in a religious & civil ceremony on January 13th, 1933 in Elgin, Grant County, North Dakota, USA.1
