Ben Ward

Ben was born on November 26th, 1926 in Dulane. His godfather was P Daly and his godmother was B Kiernan. Ben's father was Patrick Ward and his mother was MaryAnne FARNAN. His maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had eight brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Phil, Tommy, Pat, Frank, Val, Mick, John, Joseph, Josie, Maggie and annon. He was the tenth oldest of the twelve children. He died from cancer at the age of 71 on April 21st, 1998. The funeral took place in Cortown, Kells, Co. Meath. His burial was in Cortown, Kells, Co. Meath.

      TARA SHOES
      
      Tara Shoes was the first big employer in Kells, starting in 1932 and sadly ceasing in 1973. Virtually every family in the town and surrounding area was represented on the staff at some stage in the years of successful production.
      
      Former staff members are holding a Mass for deceased members in Kells Church this Wednesday July 7 at 7.30pm.
      
      The Mass will be followed by a nostalgic re-union of all former staff and friends in Headfort Arms Hotel at 8pm. Adm by ticket only (€25) from Liam 9241077 or Paddy 9241310 or Heritage Office.
