George was born about 1847 in Frindsbury, Kent, England.1   George's father is Nathaniel Browning and his mother is Caroline Pearse. He has three brothers and four sisters, named William, Thomas, John, Eliza, Caroline, Elizabeth and Anne.  He is the seventh oldest of the eight children.
