Fohlke was born on January 23rd, 1847 in Strackholt, Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany.1   Fohlke's father was Tamme Dirks Eckhoff and her mother was Gretje Heeren Hermans. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Jan, Tamme, Heere, S, Hempe, Vohlke and Trintje.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 2 on May 10th, 1849 in Nordeney, Kolonie, Lower Saxony, Germany.1
