Margaret was born in 1866. Margaret's father was Philip Temple Matthews and her mother was Minerva Moffitt. Her maternal grandparents were John Moffitt II and Maraget Dawson. She had a brother and two sisters, named John, Lucy and Mary. She was the youngest of the four children. She died at the age of 2 in 1868 in Chillicothe, IL. She was buried at the Chillicothe City Cemetery.¹¹
